I went here late last year with some co-workers from California. It's a very shacky type place but I must say they have some of the best food i've ever eaten. Friendly folks as well.

Fantastic! When you walk in to the restaurant do not expect to be seated, walk up to the counter to your left and the menu is on the wall. It's quite extensive with a variety of yummy options. The two girls at the front were just as nice as they could be. Azalea offered me a taste of the crawfish étouffée before purchase and came out to check on us and get to know us while we were eating. One of the cooks also came out to chat. So friendly! 10% off for carrying your gun which we definitely took advantage of. I had the crawfish étouffée which came with a little salad topped with a creamy Italian dressing, potato salad and a roll for $9.49. They package it in a styrofoam to go container. The ambiance is nothing fancy, much like a cafe or diner but don't let it deter you. The food is fantastic and the people are amazing! :)

Good food. Good atmosphere. I had the rib plate lunch it was the Wednesday special. It was ok. I've had top rate bbq. And I've had cut rate bbq. This was in the middle. Bbq is about preference and what I should have ordered was a burger. That all being said. They were good but very dry. And not a single sauce bottle in sight. The flavor was smoked and had some spice to it. The beans the baked beans were delicious and so was the potato salad. Over all good experience. But next time I'm ordering a burger and I'll update. When I do ;)

Good place to grab a quick flavorful lunch. One of the plate lunches can be shared with 2 adults, it's a lot of food for the price. This use to be a regular haunt of mine until they started with the show your gun stuff! This may not be a put off for many put for me I have chosen to patronize other establishments in the area. This is supposed to be a restaurant and not your local gun show event. If you're looking for somewhere else to go try the best little poboy house in port allen, it's less than 3 minutes away next to the court house and the police station. **Hint-You'll find most of the law enforcement officers at the best little poboy house and not at Bergeron's.

Best food in town. Love going there, they have the best plate lunches ever and the drive is not bad at all. Love the fried catfish and shrimp special. For all BBQ lovers make sure to go on Wednesdays for their ribs and BBQ chicken lunch special. Ribs fall off the bone and chicken is so moist. Once done with lunch visit their smoke house. You can literally buy anything to take home and cook with. The people their are so friendly and polite. If you have a conceal carry permit bring your gun and you will get 10% off.

Do not let the plain humble exterior fool you: this is a serious place! Specializing in "Cajun" meats you can get THE. BEST. CRACKLINS. here. They also have a wide selection of homemade sausages including a dynamite green onion sausage. Sausages, pork of all types (hocks, ribs, Tasso), casseroles, crazy good crawfish pistolettes, and spices, salsas, quail eggs, you name it they have it! In addition to being able to purchase items from the case to eat now - they have a fantastic row of freezers full of things to take home and cook later. For those of you who may hunt - they dress deer as well. Newly added in the last year is a restaurant next door which we have not tried.

Great food (especially the shrimp étouffée and the sweet potatoes!), huge portions, reasonable prices, and a casual but friendly atmosphere. I've been there twice now and enjoyed it both times. A worthwhile stop if you're hungry on the way to Baton Rouge.

I can't begin to say how awesome this place is!! The inside is very clean and spacious while feeling warm and homey. It was my first time and I will most definitely be back!! I had the boudin poboy and was blown away it was very fresh and the flavors were great. The boudin casing had a great snap to it and was spiced perfect. They also offer a discount to law abiding gun owners who carry in the restaurant which makes this the safest restaurant around IMO. They also have a very nice meat market next store with a great selection of locally made sausage.

Fantastic spot 1/2 mile north of freeway. Worth the wait over the Atchafalaya! Boudain, amazing ground chicken burgers with mix ins, best seasons fries ever, better than average sausage. My 6 year old wondered why anyone would eat fast food when they have this! Fast casual. Goo prices. Fed 5 for about $20. Note: Saturdays are a "best of" shorter menu. Still plenty.

Love this place, nice folks and great food. Very safe restaurant! I didn't see any "gun nuts" as the one comment says below. Just good God fearing citizens. I've got three tours in Iraq, and the world is not a safe place. Bergeron's is a safe place.

I'm going to go with two stars because for the price this place is just mediocre. It cost me $11 for a lunch plate and a drink. The chicken was dry and the black eyes peas tasted like they were out of a can. The rice dressing was pretty good. Nice sized portions and fast service are a plus. I think what ruined Bergeron's for me was the discovery of Thee Jambalaya Shop next door to it. They have AMAZING food. Best shrimp fettuccine I've ever had. But this review is about Bergeron's so let me stick to them. You can get in and out quick and there is plenty of seating. They do run out of the daily specials quick so get there early.

I was leading an Audit in the Port Allen area and my hosts had Lunch brought in on each of the 4 days that we were working. It was all good and much more plentiful than I was ready to fully digest. My first clue was when the Office Manager replaced the "children's plates" in the Kitchen with something more substantial. The Thursday Lunch from Bergeron's was probably the highlight of the Week. I had the Averie Special (Boneless Fried Chicken Breast topped with Swiss Cheese and Seafood Stuffing). It was really really good, but way too much food, and enough to make the afternoon to start a bit slow. Maybe that was the plan...:)

Average! Nothing like the smell of Clorox while you are trying to finish your lunch. Customers still here eating, don't mop!!!

I experienced the restaurant side of Bergeron's, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! I had the St. Louis Style BBQ Ribs plate lunch. They are, quite possibly, the best ribs I've ever had. If you ever dream about ribs, these are the ones of your dreams -- perfectly smoked meat falling off the bone and really excellent barbeque sauce. The sides were good too! I finished the entire meal, which is quite a feat because the portions are quite generous. I like how their lunch set up works too. You go up to the counter, order, receive your food within minutes, and then sit wherever you can find a seat. It definitely makes it easy to get in and out if you have a limited amount of time before getting back to the office. The only thing I did not like was how stressed out the staff seemed. It affected their service a bit. However, that is not going to stop me from going back to enjoy the ribs and the other daily plate lunches!

Great place to eat and very gay friendly. Being where it is I thought me and my guy would have a problem. As always we ask if places have an issue with gay couples and nice lately said "absolutely not, we're thinking about having a night for gays".

On our road trip home my husband and I stopped at the restaurant side of Bergeron for lunch. I was craving a sandwich and they had lots of poboy choices and I opted for the Philly cheesesteak (why I chose that in Louisiana I'm not entirely sure, but it was delish!) and my husband went for their boudin poboy and said it was amazing. The fries, however, were the highlight of the meal and to die for. I was so full but couldn't stop stuffing them in my mouth. This is by no means an upscale place to eat, they serve all meals in to go boxes even if you are dining in, but prices are good and the food was very tasty!

Ok. So, my lady friend and I were road tripping back from Florida looking for a good lunch spot around Baton Rogue. We accidentally passed by LSU, but saw a sign for Bergeron's on I-10. Hoping to score some good BBQ we stopped. Big mistake. First, the regular kitchen isn't open on Saturdays. Second, the BBQ plate comes with gas smoked ribs (very artificial smoke tasting). The chicken and potato salad are decent, but the BEANS... The beans are a weird combination of bush's and manwich. Ugh! Finally, the cokes were warm and the place smelled like Lysol. Don't stop here.

I have visited Bergeron's several times, and I have always enjoyed it. They have a nice diverse amount of seafood and meat dishes, and their system of having things ready shortly after you order is sound. I would give them 5 out of 5, but I am subtracting a point for two reasons: 1) sometimes their Boudin Balls taste preheated, which can be a downer AND 2) they typically run out of certain specials relatively early in the day (such as Catfish 415 during Lenten Fridays) Otherwise, it's worth the drive, and very enjoyable and popular with those in West Baton Rouge Parish and those who work in the area.

  • Bob B.

Loved it. We were stopping for meat a pal & discovered the dining area. Had Red Beans & a chicken fried pork chop. My wife had to pack out the remains. Killer.

As one who finds himself frequenting several restaurants a week. Either with my logistics company are just in general running reviews on restaurants and eateries that I have an opportunity to stop into. I must say Bergeron's is a great place to stop for a quick taste of the South . I have been in on several occasions to pick up Boudin balls and maybe pork cracklings. I will say I feel they are a bit pricey. Otherwise, the food products that I have had have been good. I am not sure what the methodology is for the chicken but on several occasions, I have noticed that it is dry. Growing up in a family of cooks and restaurant owners, there is expectancy when it comes to the taste of barbecue, potato salads and other Southern delicacies. This place does not meet my personal realistic expectation. While it is definitely a contender, which could use some tweaks. I was left to question as to whether or not the products "the chicken" is from the previous day and still being sold. During my visit. It was lunch time and I have to say I think it was a bit pricey. I will definitely keep you updated on my future visit(s) as I have family that lives in the area.

  • Chris S.

I really like their system. They have a couple lunch specials that are handed to you about 2 minutes after you walk in the door -- very convenient. Since I don't like potato salad, they made a special one for me (and another for the guy behind me) with fries instead. I had their ribs. Clearly, they had been cooking very slowly as even the bones were falling off the bone; their sauce was good and mild. Everyone at the table was happy. The portion sizes are enough to fill you up and then some. So, come hungry.

  • Deanna M.

I only gave 4 stars, because I only tried the smoked boudin . WOW! This stuff is amazing. If by chance I am in that area again, I will be sure to bring a very large ice chest so I can stock my freezer with their smoked boudin. This is hands down the best boudin I have ever had. I heated it up in the oven until the skin was crispy. The inside was creamy and well seasoned with large chunks of meat. Incredible!

I really liked my lunch, I was pretty hacked that they said they were open till 2 on Saturday, I arrived a little after 1 , and the restaurant side was completely closed, and all you could get was certain items from the meat market side. It was very good , and I brought some home with me. The staff was very friendly, but they really need to stick to their guns when it comes to hours of operation.

  • Ashley K.

Very fast service during lunch time. They had daily lunch specials. I have had the BBQ which is delicious and the fried catfish. If you are near this place go and try the food. They also have a meat shop that has any type of meat.
